hp Laserjet 3100 printer Error codes

All-in-one units like the HP LaserJet
3100
combine the functions of a printer, scanner, copier and fax
machine into a single unit, saving both desk space and money. While these
products can provide excellent service, it is a good idea for printer owners to
have some basic troubleshooting skills at their disposal. Being able to fix
your own
HP LaserJet 3100 can save you a great deal of
money, time and hassle.

Instructions

Clear Document From Scanner

Pull open the document release lever. This will allow you to access any paper jammed in the printer. Remove the jammed paper.

Check the position of the media lever. The lever should be on the right
for thick paper like card stock and to the
left for plain paper.

Reload
the paper tray and start the scan again.
Watch as the paper feeds into the unit to make sure it does not skew.

No Dial Tone

Press the manual dial key to test for
a dial tone. Check to make sure the unit is
connected to the wall jack if no dial tone is heard.

Turn up the volume by pressing the "Volume"
button on the unit's control panel and press the dial tone button again. If the
volume is off you will not be able to hear the dial tone even if the unit is
working properly.

Verify that the phone line is working by connecting a phone to the phone
cord. Replace the phone cord if there is no dial tone on the test phone.

Go to the "Fax Functions"
menu and press the "Start" option
to clear the fax memory. This will reset the unit.
