Xerox Phaser 3600 – All You Need For Your Office

Overview
Are you looking for a reliable printing solution for your small or medium sized business or work group? If the answer is yes, Xerox Phaser 3600 is ideal for your needs. It can be characterized as a printer which works fast, efficient and affordable, so you should not be worried about your printing jobs. Even though you buy this printer for printing large volumes, you will see that the 200.000 pages per month duty cycle will pay off. The 128 MB memory is upgradable to 512 MB and it can be connected to the internet through the network ready interface or by using the Wi Fi connectivity, even though Wi Fi is an optional feature. It also has a 1 year warranty. So, if you have any type of monochrome printing needs and you are the owner of a small to medium sized business, Xerox Phaser 3600 is all you need.

Pros
You will need to people to put it in a position and it probably won’t fit on a standard desk. However, it can stay very comfortable on a shelf or table. Its dimensions are 15.7 x 18.8 x 15.1 inches and its weight is around 39 pounds. That is the reason why you will need two people to carry it.

Troubleshooting is a very simple task because Xerox Phaser 3600 is very simple to set and use. The standard warranty is one year, but because of the Xerox Total Satisfaction Guarantee, if you do not like how this printer is working, you can simply replace or Xerox will repair it.

The printing speed is high, 40 pages per minute. 40 pages per minute is a high speed, we can even say that is a laser speed. Because of this fact, you should not be scared that the large printing jobs will not be finished in time.  The printing resolution is 600 x 600 dots per inch and the enchanted image quality is maximum 1200 x 1200 dots per inch. You can upgrade the standard memory from 128 Mb top 512.

The standard paper tray can hold 500 sheets and the multi purpose one can hold 100. You can add another tray that can hold an extra 100 sheets.

Cons
When it works, it is not quiet at all. Do not buy it for a workstation or a conference room. It doesn’t have duplexing feature. Also, it wasn’t made for graphic designing because it can only print in B & W. Another disadvantage would be that the wireless connectivity is an optional feature.

It offers 8 pages per minute to print black and white pages as well as color prints. The black horizontal resolution is high with 600 dpi while the black vertical resolution is also the same. It has a laser printer technology and the printer type is multifunctional. It offers great paper handling with maximum sheet capacity of 250 sheets and maximum media size of 8.5in x 14in and 8.25in x 11.7in.

Its copier is digital and shows great results. The copy speed for black and white is 12 pages per minute while for color it is 10 pages per minute. Its maximum enlargement extends to 200% and its maximum reduction to 50%. The media type it supports to copy includes envelopes, labels, plain paper and transparencies. This printer includes software and utilities in its package while it operates with systems such as Microsoft Windows 95/98, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and the later versions as well.

It is small and therefore can easily fit anywhere in a small office or even a home office environment. This machine is highly suitable for home uses, not only because it is very affordable but also because it is easy to use and does not need a degree in engineering to set up. This machine is easy to use because it offers clear buttons for its main functions. It’s also easy to set up and has an installation process which can be completed in a few simple steps in a takes a matter of minutes.

The cartridges are already installed so there’s no messing around with cartridges. Just connect, install and go. This hassle free and trouble free machine is ideal for home use as it does not even violate the silence of the home. It is not at all noisy which makes it stand aloof from the other machines of similar type which almost all make a racket when doing a print job. It hardly has any sound in standby or even in operation mode. Great for a small business or home office setup, this all-round printer is economical, reliable and durable.

Xerox Phaser 6130 Color Laser Printer

OVERVIEW: Like its brother the 6125, the Xerox Phaser 6130 comes with everything for right-out-of-the-box color printing, plus expandable memory and PostScript3.

PROS:
Weighing in at 46 pounds and a height of 15”, the boxlike Phaser 6130’s has a true 15.5” x 17.5” footprint. Sitting on a normal office table, the 6130 sits at about elbow height.

In less than 14 seconds, the Phaser 6130 will start printing up to 16 black-and-white pages per minute. The selling point of this color laser comes with its speed. Using a single-pass print design, color prints can be as fast as 12ppm.

The 6130 comes with a 250-sheet cassette tray that supports up to legal-size (8½” x 14”) paper without expanding the printer’s footprint. A multi-purpose feed slot is built into the paper tray for manual feeding transparencies, labels, post cards, envelopes, 3” x 5” postcards, and paper of various bond weights up to 90 lb.

Having built-in Ethernet network support and hi-speed USB, this printer is right at home either in the middle of an office floor or directly connected to a secretary’s computer. The built-in 128MB of printer memory can be expanded up to over 1GB for handling larger and more print jobs.

Understanding the printing needs of today’s businesses in providing support for the major software applications, Xerox has included the popular HP PCL6 and Adobe PostScript3 print emulators to satisfy the most diverse office.

The intuitive control panel on the Phaser 6130 has a multi-line LCD Display, plus buttons that make manual control of the printer relatively painless. By default, it immediately shows you the toner levels for each color. The control panel, toner levels, printer information, configuration, emulation, and network settings can be performed.

The printer produces up to 52dB of sound printing, while idling at 26dB. To give you an idea of what that means: 60 decibels is the level of typical conversations and 30 decibels is the level of a quiet room. You don’t want to have this printer stationed in a conference room chugging away when a meeting is in progress. But, when placed in the copy room or in the middle of a busy office floor, any printing noises will blend in with the background.

CONS:
One of the sacrifices of a color printer is print speeds. However the Phaser 6130 has unusually slow print speeds even in B&W mode at a 600 x 600 dpi resolution. While the color print speed is impressive, a business or office that prints mostly in monochrome should invest in a separate monochrome laser printer instead of relying on the 6130 for both jobs.

INK / TONER NEEDS:
The toner cartridges that come with the Phaser 6130 are only good for about 500 pages (or a lot fewer pages if you plan on doing a lot of printing photographic images). The black toner has double the print capacity of the 1,000-page color toners. To save on costs toner combo-packages are available

A side panel on the side of the 6130 provides access to the four toner cartridges. Something to consider when finding a parking space in the office for this printer.
